this recipe is called daddy's tuna tartare not because he makes it but because it is his favorite thing to eat. well, more like one of his favorites. he craves this tartare all the time and eats it not like most people - as an appetizer, a few bites here and there. he eats it as an entire dinner course, mounding his potato chips with this delectable concoction until there is nothing left in the bowl. even if the bowl contains a pound of it. i am not allowed to indulge in tartare just yet but Nini is always snacking on it as well. although i think Nini may be more interested in the potato chips rather than the tartare itself?
1 pound ahi tuna, small dice
1/2 cup minced green onion (green parts only)
2 teaspoons minced fresh ginger
1 teaspoon wasabi paste
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon lime juice
lightly salted kettle potato chips
1. In a bowl, combine the tuna, green onions, ginger, wasabi, sesame oil, soy sauce and lime juice, and mix until well combined. Taste and adjust seasoning with lime juice or soy sauce. Set bowl over ice until ready to serve.
2. Serve with kettle chips.
